Our Founder - Pamela L. Iles, Superior Court Judge (retired)
Judge Pamela Iles has changed the face of victims' services throughout California as well as the Nation. She is a visionary who has dramatically improved the lives of tens of thousands of California residents in her 35 years as a Superior Court Judge and a Deputy District Attorney in Orange County. What is most impressive about Judge Iles is not only the work she has done professionally but the programs she is responsible for developing as a volunteer. In 2000, Judge Iles founded the Family Violence Project with a mission of educating mandated reporters who provided early intervention in families in order to stem the growing tide of family violence in California. In 2002, Judge Iles received a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to grow this vital program and to add a teen dating violence prevention component called Save the Date. In 2004, Judge Iles met with officials at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton to discuss ways to stem the tide of young Marines struggling with PTDS who were brought into her courtroom. As a result the Heroes and Healthy Families program was formed. To date this program has served over 11,000 Marines and their families across the United States.
